Shirt: Perfect fit from Country Road. Made in China from imported fabric says the label, which seems a little strange. A beige number with a light brown, faint paisley design. Unmatched pocket. 100% cotton. Nice enough but lacking in personality.

Shirt: In the same style as #238, this masterpiece features a presumably hand-painted gold glitter finish to the edges of many shapes. Dark blue and black with simple leaves and tribal patterns. Polyester/cotton, made in New Zealand. Don’t worry about the warning not to tumble dry – the quantity of sparkles that came off has made its way out of the dryer on the next few loads. Not the best fit, but who cares when it looks this good.

Shirt: Light blue and white flowers on a dark blue background. Tailored Originals brand. Size XL. Made in China. In another first, this garment is 97% cotton and 3% elastane which is a synthetic fibre known for its exceptional elasticity. It is a polyether-polyurea copolymer that was invented in 1958 by chemist Joseph Shivers at DuPont’s Benger Laboratory in Waynesboro, Virginia – otherwise known as lycra or spandex. Apparently spandex is an anagram of ‘expands’. Will wonders ever cease?

Shirt: Typical blue check shirt but qualifies with orange hibiscus flowers and an array of stencilled flower-like patterns. Berlin brand. 100% cotton. Made in China. Size L. Unmatched pocket. Sensational hem for buttons features a belt of two check fabrics. Inserts for collar tabs. A real one-of-kind. Subtle and cool.

Shirt: A little ripper from Jay’s Clothing. Made in New Zealand which makes me proud. Green with red and orange flowers, mustard and dark red leaves and sections of woven thatch. Just a pity the pocket isn’t matched. Cool combination of colours and a good fit.
Side note on the shelter (which wouldn’t normally rate such a mention), it is of some interest to me why this shelter is installed side on. Certainly enough room there. This is a mystery I may never solve.

Shirt: Blue with brown and beige stencilled hibiscus, dark and light blue fronds, larger off-white leaves and the occasional flower. Riptide brand, made in China. Size M. Made in China of quite a cheap feeling polyester. Interesting pattern but a nightmare to wear without something more breathable underneath.

Shirt: A bright and breezy blue with green fronds and white tropical flowers with light blue frond silhouettes. Liquid Culture brand, available exclusively at Harrisons according to label. Size L. Unmatched pocket with branded tag. Has a marvellous ‘less than perfect’ feel to the sewing that says its been made somewhere small. One that’s definitely going to work on a Friday.

Shirt: A gift from a family member, this garment seems to have been lifted from Princess Cruises. Size XXL, 100% rayon, made in China. Black with bold green tropical leaves and pink and yellow pineapples. Totally let down by the pocket pattern-matched on one side, but sewn on an angle to not match on the other.

Shirt: Bright red with brilliant, faint hand-painted orange tropical leaves painted here and there. Lined central seam. Stussy Wear of Laguna Beach, California. 100% rayon and so light you’d forget you’re wearing it. Size XL? I don’t think so. Made in China. Heavily labelled with this and that. Even has ‘Stussy Wear’ in embroidery in the rear. An absolute firecracker of a shirt.

Shirt: Simple but effective blue with overlapping tropical leaves. Cedarwood State brand. Made in Bangladesh. Size large. Label curiously carries a Dublin and Madrid address for Primark Limited. 100% cotton.
