Shirt: Dark blue with mysterious clutches of light blue flowers and leaves. The smallest garment I’ve ever seen labelled a Medium. Cotton On brand, made in China of 100%. Ridiculous pair of long tags on the inside hip bestowing the virtues of the washing instructions in every language available. Button-down collars are cool. Funny little unmatched pocket.

Shirt: Black with dark red with leaves, teal smaller flowers and large white hibiscus. Over the top are rows of black score marks, printed as part of the pattern. Lowes brand of China. Size M. 100% polyester. Imitation cork buttons. Unmatched pocket. Cool pattern but not the best fit. Very light but feels like it would need a t-shirt underneath to help it breathe.

Shirt: The day I came across this one I thought it was Christmas. Mainly white with orange edges (including collar) and brilliantly a coloured coral reef of tropical fish, shellfish, coral and so on. No label unfortunately. Such a shame we couldn’t get a pattern match across the middle. While I feel like just about anything goes in the office on Friday, this one might just be going too far. Close call though.

Shirt: A huge hit at work the other day. Blue with an unusually painted three-wheeled bicycle with an awning, puddles, bushes, trees and clouds. Same front and back. Well patterned-matched across the hidden buttons, across the pocket not so much so. ‘Risky’ brand. Certainly nothing else like it in this collection.

Shirt: Brilliant blue with large orange hibiscus, other red and pink flowers and various branches and leaves. Somewhat confusing label states ‘From the French Connection. European fit for the Lichfield man’. I looked on the internet for what a Lichfield man is and could only find violent crime reports in Birmingham. Back to the garment, it’s New Zealand of 100% polyester which is what lets it down a little. Amazing pattern but a slightly acrylic feel.

Shirt:
Similar to #113 in blue with light blue feathers. Not exactly on theme, but what really is the theme? Factorie brand, made in China of 100% cotton. Amusingly the tag has space with labels ‘If found return to’ and ‘Phone number’ whereupon ‘A.Legend’ and ‘I’ll call you :)’ appears in red embroidery. Who said the Chinese have no sense of humour?

Shirt: This 100% cotton, made in Hawaii, Hana Fashion masterpiece is what dreams are made of. Highly detailed, multicoloured, good fitting and above all, authentic. Tropical islands, surf, traditional sailing boats, bunches of hibiscus and other flowers. Nicely matched pocket. Attracted as many positive comments as a shirt can on a Friday at work. Easily a top-10 favourite of the whole lot.

Shirt: Another really nice example from Just Jeans, just like #242. Blue with light tropical leaves. Size M. Low profile collar and unmatched pocket. 100% cotton, made in China. The idea I had that Just Jeans were are relic of the 90s and no longer exist turns out to be incorrect.

Shirt: While plenty of garments in the collection have been Chinese-made, this is the first to be clearly Chinese in style with a number of cool touches such as hip pockets which I love, Chinese characters that have been applied in way that has seen the material dissolve to almost nothing in those places and rather than buttons it has short material knots and loops. Made in China by Laoguda. Also features light brown dragon medallions and a few other random black shapes and black Chinese phrases. Not really the sort of thing I’d wear to work, but definitely a poker night thing.

Shirt: With no other tags there is little background to this garment from Silver Surfer. Were it not for the buttons, you could wear this one inside out – the printing process has soaked straight through it. A pattern I can’t describe and colours I can’t make out and that’s why it’s in the collection. Quite a roomy size S.
