Shirt: Marvellous orange and red shades with teal and white flowers and fronds. Incredible gold glitter finish to edges of each shape. Worn recently at a poker evening, much to the delight of the regulars. Proudly made in New Zealand of 100% polyester. Size M. Unmatched pocket. One of my absolute favourites for its absurdity.

Shirt: Few garments in the collection have the history of this one. Just being a Reyn Spooner creation makes this collectable, let alone that it carries Congressional Cup embroidery and most interestingly ‘Ficker is Quicker’ embroidery – a yachting race held at Long Beach California to honour the late Bill Ficker who helmed Intrepid to victory in the 1970 Americas Cup. See full story here. As a colour-challenged person this garment presents a confusing mix of blues and browns with traditional patterns made of simple stamps.

Shirt: A first time entry for the Aisokula brand of Fiji. Polyester/cotton. Size XL. Dark blue tribal masks and other patterns on a red background. Unmatched pocket with tag. Nothing much to write home about here, but a good sew and a comfortable fit.

Shirt: I’m reliably informed that this aubergine and light purple. Diagonal bands of intricate flower-like swirls and loosely painted rectangles. Clusters of stitches give this garment an amazing texture. Keris Fashion brand boasting a ‘100% cotton wax process’. Size S. Absolutely fantastic despite a failed attempt at matching the pocket.

Shirt: Sprawling orange and yellow hibiscus on an orange and black background with an effect like veins in leaves. 100% cotton. Made in Fiji. ‘Beer in Mind’ brand. Lion Red beer logo ironed onto one sleeve. One of three Lion sponsored garments in the collection.

Shirt: Olive with vague stencilled hibiscus and other tropical plants and leaves. Items brand of China. Size L. 100% polyester. Buttoned pocket let down by poor matching. Feels good despite its synthetic origins.

Shirt: Light blue with lush tropical vegetation and pairs of cocktails. ‘Contemporary’ brand, made in China. Size M. 100% polyester. Garnered a thousand positive comments around work on a day when the weather was far from tropical. With a shirt like this on, the party comes to you.

Shirt: Dark blue with natural shapes and patterns highlighted with white dots to give a tremendous effect. Pocket only matches in one corner unfortunately. No tag so no details, but what a cracker.

Shirt: Sublime Thai silk masterpiece. Made in Thailand by a company claiming to be called ‘Apple’. Monuments and buildings appear on different angles in rough boxes. Has a super feel. A delight to wear.
