Shirt: Light and almost see-through red masterpiece from Kennington of California, made in New Zealand under licence by Woolleys in Auckland. Amazing hand-painted design on pocket and repeated on the back. Deep button shows a lot of chest and flares the collar. What a gem.

Shirt: Le Mans Sportswear label boasts ‘Tailored for men’, ‘Quality never goes out of fashion’. It certainly has the quality. Size L. Dark blue with light blue trellis effect, vague teal vines and black leaves. Unmatched pocket. Reinforced collar.

Shirt: Wild red with pink seas. Brightly coloured islands, volcanoes, coconut trees, sunglasses and sunsets. Blue Hawaii brand, made in Thailand of 100% rayon. Size M but on the small side. Unmatched pocket. Buttons and button holes laid right on the margins, showing off way more than it should.

Shirt: ‘Tailored by Barkers’ in 100% cotton. Made in China. Brilliant fit. High quality sew. Dark blue with silhouettes of tropical foliage. The perfect choice for the office on a Friday when there’s a presentation to give and people are expecting Friday fashion, but you want to be taken seriously.

Shirt: White with subtle off-white pattern of hibiscus flowers. Boardcore brand from O’Neill. Size L. O’Neill tags on pocket and hip a nice touch. Not much else to write home about.

Every so often a garment looks so good on the rack that it makes its way all the way to be bus shelter before we realise it is too small. Case in point, #293. In very similar colours to the national cricket team uniform of the 1980s, this insta-purchase could only be worn for a few short moments for fear of exploding out of it. Made wonderfully in New Zealand of polyester and cotton with bold, simplified traditional shapes. Will stay in the collection however. Maybe I’ll get fit or sick enough to fit it.

Shirt: Paragraphs could be written about the perfection on display here. Yellow, but not too over the top. Bunches of red hibiscus and tropical leaves. Postcards of various Hawaiian scenes postmarked 1879. ‘King Sized’ cans of pineapple and Hawaii Beer from the North Shore. Honolulu Soap Co logos and not forgetting the skulls. Thick grey fabric sewn into the collar and shoulders. Button-down collar. The list goes on. Made by Woof Republic. 100% cotton. Made in Thailand. Not very often something this good comes along. Definitely one to keep in the front of the wardrobe.

Shirt: Blue and teal ocean with lush tropical islands, coral reefs, traditional canoes and sail boats. Groups of people fishing with nets and surfing (not at the same time). Simple designs combined with bright colours to really turn heads. Shenma brand but sadly no other details. Has a little bit of everything. What a cracker.

Shirt: Two shades of pink from Eveni Pacific. 100% cotton. Made on Fiji. Size L. Let down only by its unmatched pocket, but otherwise a really beauty. Good fit, great feel.
