Shirt: An instant classic. Dark and light blue with surf boards, coconut trees, white hibiscus, on a volcanic island background. Supplied by D&D Manufacturing with an Auckland address. Made in Fiji of ‘spun rayon’ – the miracle fabric. I wish they’d matched the pocket. Just a little tight across the chest for complete comfort.

Shirt: While not strictly on topic, this garment is branded Sogo Fiji which is a chain of stores at Fijian resorts such as Outrigger On The Lagoon and Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort. Grey with blue, orange and black swirls and scribbles. Size L. Unmatched, button pocket and collar. Possibly polyester. Unsure what occasion this shirt would best suit, other than Fridays in the office of course.

Shirt: Marvellous blue grey streaks with random flower shapes in white squares and striped rectangles. Also features a row of white hibiscus around the chest. Origin brand. Made in China. Polyester fabric lets it down a little and hopelessly unmatched pocket.

Shirt: Jamaica Jaxx brand. 100% silk. Made in China. Size XL. Superb textured finish with thick bunches of bananas on healthy trees. Green background. Maybe a little roomy, but so well made and looks so good I think I can get away with it.

Shirt: Printed on the inside to give a cool faded look, this Kahala, 100% cotton, made in Hawaii garment is the real deal. Matched pocket and imitation tortoise shell buttons just add to the cool. It features the leaves of the Monstera deliciosa plant which is actually native to Mexico, south to Panama. It turns out it was introduced to Hawaii and has become invasive. Whoops.

Shirt: A Fiji Rugby official licenced product, this yellow number features simple grey coconut tree symbols. Size XL. ‘Fiji Rugby’ in embroidery on the pocket is on an unfortunate angle but otherwise super cool.

Shirt: Another Silver Hawk ‘Fashion Fit’ with some really nice touches like a grey denim in the shoulders, collar and behind the button holes and thorough double-stitching. Has a terrific texture and is very well finished. White with small, simple black coconut trees and birds. 100% cotton. Made in China.

Shirt: Mesmerised by the pattern, the size of this garment was overlooked at purchase, leading to some blushes at this stop. Here the author struggles to keep all the apples in the bag. Cedar Woodstate brand of Bangladesh. 100% cotton. Lemon yellow with different sized bunches of white hibiscus and other flowers in white, golden yellow and red highlights. A brilliant print and such a motivator to shed a few pounds so it actually fits.

Shirt: Dark blue with ghostly light blue and white orchids and tropical palm fronds. Silver Hawk brand ‘Fashion Fit’. Size S. 100% cotton. Made in China. Has a ‘locker loop’ on the back – apparently for hanging the shirt on a hook. Cool shirt overall.

Shirt: The black version of #292 and just as terrific. Woof Republic, a slim-fit XL. 100% cotton. Made in Thailand. Super high quality. And that’s 300. So far so good – having to cast the net a bit wider, but only scratching the surface on what’s available in fashion and chattels in this fine city.
