Shirt: Sensational blue with white village scenes. Volcanic islands, traditional huts, sailboats and canoes. Made in Hawaii by RJC in size L. 100% cotton. Lovely matched pocket. Awesome faux coconut shell buttons embossed with company logo. So good.

Shirt: Somewhat off-genre white with small bunches of purple roses. Unmatched pocket. Park brand, made in China. 100% cotton. The label “Maximum shrinkage 5%”. I wish I could say the same. Nice feel and a nice fit.

#337: Stop 1704. 560 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland. Link: here
Shirt: Curious mixture of pink and red Pacific scenes with yellow hibiscus as half of the pattern is printed upside down. This makes the villages, traditional canoes and coconut trees look pretty odd. Bawangxi (Ewang Garment Company) brand made in size XXL. Unmatched pocket. Probably fully synthetic, shirt has a noisy, plastic feel to it.

Shirt: White with simple traditional patterns in horizontal bands in dark blue. Printed inside-out with solid dark blue pocket and sleeve inlays. Urban Equip brand. Made in China. 100% cotton. Not the only inside-out print in the collection, but otherwise unique for the pattern and design.

Shirt: Masterpiece in greens. Dark and light green leaves with white textures. Paradise Style of Hawaii. 65% polyester, 35% cotton. Size M. The antidote to #334. Matched pocket. Terrific fit and feel. High quality sew. Even the low-end buttons are in character. What a ripper.

Shirt: Oversized XXXL cliché in blue with white flowers and leaves. Hibiscus flowers feature orange highlights. 35% cotton, 65% polyester. Unmatched pocket. Awful rough sewing and loose threads. I might make this one into a pencil case instead.

Shirt: Superb orange with brown trellis, spirals, stripes and other angular shapes. Event Pacific brand. Size L. Unmatched pocket. 100% cotton. Made in Fiji. Original pattern, great feel, cool design, good fit – this all comes together brilliantly. Definitely one to keep in the top rack.

#332: Stop 8495. 73 West End Road, Westmere, Auckland. Link: here
Shirt: Unusual crepe paper feel. Cool hidden pocket with button hook. Black and dark brown with red flowers and white leaves. Also features large red and black turtle stencils. Nice faux-wooden style buttons. Bossimo brand, made in China. A few faults however. Some quite wobbly sewing and plenty of loose threads. Label says “Ruthenticia Style Made Specifically tor Sturdyin Quality Comforl&Loog Wear” which is a little rough. Notable for the feel of the fabric though.

Shirt: Possibly the oldest shirt in the collection – purchased second-hand in early 1990s. Size M. Pago Pago Express brand. Brown, beige, dark blue with some yellow bits here and there. Block shapes including simple flowers and leaves. Dark and mysterious. Missing a frightening number of buttons. Hard to say if cool, dark and mysterious or awful. Needs a second opinion.
Curiously the shelter is sign-written with ‘Old Mill Road’ but that’s around the corner.
Nobody’s perfect.

Shirt: Black with pink and white ducks. Bai Hui brand. Very average synthetic material feel. While the pattern is pretty cool, what makes this shirt so fantastic is the pocket is sewn on sideways with a small red tag sewn into it that reads “FASHION”. Is this a new trend? I love it. Who uses the pocket these days anyway? So why not sew it on sideways? Pure genius.
